George Lopez Begins His Pest Control Career

In 1985, shortly after returning from his honeymoon, George Lopez launched his first pest control business, Miami Mice, with little more than determination and a vision to build something of his own.

Starting completely on his own, George went door-to-door introducing his services to homeowners and local businesses across South Florida while also beginning to build his family. He handled everything himself — sales, treatments, customer service, and daily operations — learning firsthand what it takes to earn trust one property at a time.

Through hard work, consistency, and strong word-of-mouth referrals, the business steadily grew. George built a loyal customer base by focusing on honest service, reliable results, and long-term relationships. After years of growth and success, he eventually sold the company — carrying forward the experience and values that would later shape Professional Pestguard.

After selling Miami Mice, George Lopez realized he wasn’t built to work for someone else. With years of real-world pest control experience and a strong entrepreneurial mindset, he set out to build a company grounded in honest service, dependable results, and long-term customer relationships.

In 2003, George launched Professional Pestguard with the vision of creating a locally trusted pest control company focused on both residential and commercial properties. Early on, his son Giancarlo joined him in the field, learning the ropes firsthand under George’s guidance.
